SYNC: Free Audiobooks for Teens
As audiobook popularity grows AudioFile Magazine encourages teen listening with a special summer program that provides participants two FREE audiobook titles per week starting April 29, 2021. Teens, librarians, club leaders, and educators must register for SYNC and download OverDrive’s Sora app to their device of choice. The participants then use the app to borrow titles each week (titles roll over at midnight Eastern Time each Thursday). Included titles will be available to borrow for one week only but remain accessible to the registered user indefinitely within Sora. SYNC makes two thematically paired audiobooks available for checkout every week, at no cost, to every registered listener all summer. In 2021, 28 titles will be accessible through the 14-week-long season. During the summer of 2020, the SYNC program gave away 136,000 audiobooks.
Authors presented in this year’s collection include Tim Wynne-Jones, Kimberly Drew, and Monica Hesse. Narrators who provide their skills for teen listeners this season include Bahni Turpin, Michael Crouch, and Emily Woo Zeller, among the 28 FREE available titles.
SYNC is a free summer audiobook program for teens 13+.
Returning Spring 2021, SYNC gives participants two thematically paired audiobooks each week. In 2020, 26 titles were given away over 13 weeks. Titles change every Thursday at midnight Eastern Time during the season.
