The Glen Rock Public Library is seeking a creative and dynamic Full Time Children’s Librarian. Our Library is the hub of Glen Rock and our Children’s Room is its busiest department. As our Children’s Librarian you will develop and execute innovative programs and order materials designed to serve children through grade five. As a Department Head, the Children’s Librarian is part of the management team and takes a leadership role in inspiring and initiating continuous improvement in all aspects of library service. The schedule includes one evening per week, one Saturday per month, one weekly Adult Reference Desk shift and an occasional Circulation shift. This is a supervisory, union-eligible position. The position offers health coverage, retirement plan, and generous holidays, vacation, and sick time. Salary is commensurate with experience and NJLA minimum. 

 

Education and Experience

         

• Master’s Degree or in Library Science from an accredited ALA institution. Students enrolled in an accredited MLIS program will be

·       considered. Possession of, or ability to obtain, State of New Jersey Public Librarian’s License.

 

• A minimum of 3 years of appropriate and satisfactory experience working with children in a public library setting.

 

• Residency in the state of New Jersey or within one year of start of employment as required by New Jersey First Act, N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70).

 

• Employment is contingent on passing a criminal background check.
