Re: Clarification about statistics and surveys needed for summer reading program

August 11th 2010

I'd just like to add my two cents to this conversation.\xA0 I've worked at libraries that were well staffed and at other libraries that were understaffed.\xA0 I understand how difficult it is to find time to do this extra step when it is hard enough to find the time just to complete our basic library work.\xA0 But when libraries are facing cuts at a local and state level it is extremely important for us to justify and prove why we are integral to our communities.\xA0 \xA0 There are over 300 libraries in the state an ...Continue Reading

The State Librarian needs this information to justify continuing the summer reading program. Hi Sharon, I reallly don't mean to be rude or challenge you but I would like to know why we have to do all that you reguest below. We keep a record of the children who attend and how many books they read. I just don't get why we have to report this to your office. I know I speak for other libraries in LOGIN. Do you need these numbers for federal funding or a grant? I would really appreciate some feedback from you. I am very short staffed, my children's person is part-time, I am not using Evanced and I will answer your ...Continue Reading

Clarification about statistics and surveys needed for summer reading program

August 11th 2010

Hi Everyone, To make this a bit clearer. Everyone has to submit information 2 ways. Everyone needs to complete the survey using Survey Monkey because the State Library didn’t pay for the program component of Evanced Summer Reader online registration/report program and the question about program statistics is asked in the Survey Monkey survey. Questions 8 – 16 of the survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/878RNK7 pertain to programs. For anyone using Evanced, the rest of the statistics needed can be compiled using th ...Continue Reading

RE: NJ Summer Reading INFORMATION survey

August 11th 2010

Anyone using Evanced has to use the report function to generate the reports and then e-mail them to me at sraw...@njstatelib.org. You can generate a lot of different reports using Evanced but the ones I need are: # of registered children # of actual children’s participants # of books read by children (if you used minutes or hours, you can send that but I’d prefer it in # of books if possible) # of children’s programs offered # of children’s attendees at programs # of registered teens # of actual teens who partic ...Continue Reading

RE: NJ Summer Reading INFORMATION survey

Hi Allison, How are we supposed to report the statistics for the number of programs and number of attendees for said programs on Evanced?  It doesn’t seem to be set up for that. NJ Summer Reading INFORMATION survey

August 10th 2010

Hi Everyone, http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/878RNK7 Here is the link for the information survey for the 2010 Summer Reading programs in your library. These are the general questions about programming and manual use for our state. This is not a survey for statistics. Statistics will be collected through the Evanced software program that the State Library purchased for statewide reporting. The deadline to complete this survey is October 15, 2010. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and staying cool! Allison Santos C ...Continue Reading

OT: When patrons argue with each other

Have any of you had good presenters for staff development on the topic of how library staff can best deal with conflicts between patrons?
