Hi, Fran! I've been doing PR programs since the second season of the show... I use all dollar store items, starting with one plastic tablecloth per student which is their main fabric. Plastic is great because it can be stapled or taped or safety pinned together (no sewing necessary!). Then I buy all sorts of crazy things for them to use as adornments/accessories: shower caps, ribbon, colored electrical tape, kitchen sponges, etc. Raiding your craft closet as Christen mentioned is a ...Continue Reading

Hi Fran! \xA0 We just had our second Project Runway event last Thursday and it was fun!\xA0 I themed it "Lady GaGa" and the girls had to design Lady GaGa inspired outfits out of garbage bags, duct tape, fabric, feathers, etc.\xA0 I pretty much just pulled out a bunch of our craft supplies and let the girls go to town.\xA0 We had a duct tape runway and the girls had to come out modeling their outfits to a Lady GaGa song of their choosing.\xA0 It was fun! \xA0 Hope this helps and good luck! ~Christen On Thu, ...Continue Reading

Hi, everyone, I can add to this, too: Early in the new year, every year, the directors have to fill out the State Aid report, and this information is required then, so you (or your director, who will probably come to you) will have to compile this info anyway. I find it so much easier to fill out the Youth Services portion of the State Aid report because I collected and recorded the summer statistics in September. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer reading programs! Ours has ...Continue Reading

I have to add my voice to Jessica's. We all hate to do statistics but that is the only way we can quantify what we do. We do not have a product that can be counted easily. Collecting these numbers may take time, but I need to report these same statistics to our Library Board of Trustees. Our Director needs these numbers to justify our budget to the Town Council. Once you have done this, it is readily available to anyone who asks for it. We also find it handy to go back and look at these numbers when planning the fol ...Continue Reading

Jessica, thank you for the information, what you described below is really what I was looking for, some explanation of how the statistics are used. I appreciate your time in writing this email. I think it is a given that we all want to work together to support New Jersey Libraries. An open discussion is always helpful when we are asked to supply information to the State Library.\xA0 Jean\xA0 On Wed, Aug 11, 2010 at 11:48 AM, Jessica Trujillo <jbmt...@gmail.com> wrote: I'd just like to add my two cents to this c ...Continue Reading
