December 8th 2009

All are welcome to observe our rhymes programs for babies and toddlers!  We've been doing this for over a dozen years, and have found a formula that works.   Generally, the programs are held every Thursday evening (except around the winter holidays and at the very end of the summer) at 6:30 and 7:00 p.m., and three Friday mornings per month at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.   Our events schedule online will have the current dates and times: www.franklintwp.org   You may call us, if you ...Continue Reading

Re: Baby Story Times

December 8th 2009

I just began such a program in the fall due to a lot of requests.  It doesn't sound as if this is someone just starting out, but I'll share what I can. I found the book Babies in the Library! by Jane Marino helpful.  The book had a lot of good ideas and suggestions, as well as sample programs.  The author mentions at the beginning that although you might have trouble finding a time for such a program it is a good idea to try to make the time, but then goes on to say you should really have two such program ...Continue Reading

Jennifer -- The One Book New Jersey posters are given out by NJLA to public libraries. After each public library building gets one, the OBNJ committee has in the past offered the remaining posters, on a first come, first served basis to schools. The posters should be going out to public libraries by the end of January, so watch for a listserve message around the beginning of February for schools. Re: Baby Story Times

Christen, I do not do the baby story time, but I have previewed Mother Goose on the Loose (info at http://www.neal-schuman.com/bdetail.php?isbn=1555705367). It is a very exhaustive program and it comes with a CD which is helpful when learning new songs. I know other librarians who have found it very useful. ...Continue Reading

summer reading logs

December 7th 2009

Please excuse cross postings. Rather than making our own reading logs for summer reading, as we have done in the past, we are looking to purchase logs.  The logs available from the collaborative are very nice, but we would like to have logs in which the lines are numbered.  Does anyone know of a source for reading logs with numbered lines?  Thank-you. *Lina Crowell* *Children's Librarian*** *Warren County Library*** *199 Hardwick Street*** *Belvidere, NJ 07823*** *908-475-6017*** http://www.warren ...Continue Reading
