Just a note to remind NJ librarians that NJLA Children's Services Section is again running the Books for Kids Program to collect books to be given to children and teens throughout NJ who have limited access to books this holiday season. If your library has participated in the past, you should have received your packet in mid-September. Hi Richard, I’m replying to the list because this question might be one that others are interested in as well. No, your library doesn’t have to get a group of 15 together. The date that the tour is offered depends on getting that many people together so you will have to check with the Meadowlands to make sure the date your library customers want to go has enough people already signed up. I don’t think the tickets have a deadline for when they need to be used but I will check with the Meadowlands first just to mak ...Continue Reading

Hi, guys!\xA0 I recently received my vouchers for the Meadowlands Experience Tour.\xA0 I'm very excited to give these away.\xA0 I did have a few questions, though:Just to be clear- the winner doesn't have to get a group of 15 together, they just have to call Donna to be part of an already formed group?\xA0 That may sound silly, but I wanted to make sure to avoid any disappointments.\xA0 Also, is there any time that the tickets have to be used by?\xA0 We just re-opened after a long renovation and will be having our gra ...Continue Reading

Although these aren’t programs aimed at teens, I wanted to pass these program recommendations from Sharon Orlando, the Youth Services Librarian at Watchung Public Library along. Sharon Rawlins, Youth Services Consultant, NJ State Library With summer reading completed, it's time for me to fulfill a promise that I've made to a handful of presenters who, each is his/her own way, made Watchung Library's /Be Creative at Your Summer /a memorable experience. Watchung Library offered over 55 programs to more than 1, ...Continue Reading

Elissa, not sure where you are - I'm thinking sort of North Jersey? Stagestruck Performing Arts (http://www.sskpac.com/education.htm) in Berkeley Heights has a number of great programs. Between my branch, West Windsor, & Robbinsville (one of the other Washington Townships!), they've done at least 4 programs for the Mercer County Library System. Their prices aren't too high, but they do charge $50 extra if you're what they consider far. Stand Up Comedy and Anime drawing were very good.I'd love to hear the other ideas ...Continue Reading
