Hi Jessica, \xA0 Just did a quick google search and found this list regarding amputation in children's books. I can't personally vouch for any of the titles, or how closely they match the specific incident, but I hope it helps! \xA0 http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/children/disabilities_amputation.html \xA0 Nicole Signoretta Children's Librarian Newark Public Library On Fri, Sep 4, 2009 at 4:26 PM, Jessica Trujillo <jbmt...@gmail.com> wrote: Hello all,I am hoping someone out there can give us some help. Hello all, I am hoping someone out there can give us some help. We have a six-year-old patron whose father lost a limb in a car accident. The parents are trying to find a book to help the child cope with the parent's loss. We've found books about ill parents but nothing this specific. Any suggestions are welcome. I will compile a list. Thanks! Jessica Trujillo Young Adult Librarian Bridgewater Branch, Somerset Library County System ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The fol ...Continue Reading

Hi Everyone, I'm trying to find a way to keep our shelves more orderly and was wondering if any of you have tried the non-skid shelf tape that comes in 1" or 2" widths. I just wanted to share my thoughts on a fabulous program we recently had at the North Arlington Public Library. We ended our summer reading program with a \x93Wondergy\x94 science program presented by owner Ken Fink. He did a \x93cool science\x94 program for kids of all ages. We had at least 40 kids and just as many parents at our event, and every single person was intrigued by his program. The program lasted an hour and a half which might typically bore most people, but his presentation was an exceptional mix of s ...Continue Reading

I want to spread the word about a really terrific program we had here this summer. We booked the science educators from Philadelphia-based Wondergy (www.wondergy.com) to do their Cool Science program. Since they were visiting another local library the same day we even got a discount, as did the other library. Ken Fink engaged the enthusiastic crowd of 50+ kids from the very beginning. After the first couple of minutes, they were squealing with delight and participating fully. We aimed the program at 4th g ...Continue Reading
