Dear JerseyCat users,

Please be fair and re-evaluate your ILL policy, if your library does not lend CD's or does not lend DVD's, but does ask other libraries to lend them to your library. This does not seem fair.

Often, when I get a request for a CD or DVD, I look up the policy of the requesting library, to see if they reciprocate. If there is N in the column for the type of material that they are asking us for, I do not send it. Instead, I request, in the history of the JerseyCat request, for this library to please begin lending this type of material, so as to be fair to all libraries.

Probably I am alone in doing this, but there are most likely other librarians who have had Unfilled requests, because of this unfriendly policy, so I hope that more libraries who lend all formats will join me in my efforts to have a fair ILL exchange, by putting on the pressure to re-evaluate, and change to Y, their lending policies with regard to non-book items.

You can easily find the requesting library's policy by clicking on *Search Library Information in the left column. If you right click on this, and open it in another window, you will not have to navigate away from the page that you are working on.

Then you put in the library's name and click on Submit.

The next screen has a button in the top right, that has a link to the ILL policy of this library.

Do this with your own library's name. You may be unaware that some requests are not getting through to you, that you would fill if your policy was updated.

Thank you.
