Hello everyone: There is an issue here, since Jerseycat does not distinguish between Books on CD and Books on tape when it puts together a lending list. Even if you put in the intructions box that you want the book in CD, often, you still will get the book on cassette, since people don't seem to read what's typed in the instuction box. Then I find that if I want a book on CD, I must do a blank request and target it specifically to libraries that have what I'm looking for. By the way, has anyone recieved a copy of the ...Continue Reading

Greetings! I am not the Interlibrary loan contact at my library, but I am part of the process. I'd like to take this oportunity to thank everyone who helps us to look SO good to our patrons who think we walk on water when we get them what they need. One thing I'd light to ask (because I see this at least once a week): Can everyone be a bit more careful when filling requests when the material is NOT a book? We try to be very specific about requesting books on cd, only to get books on tape; or we ask for season 2 of a ...Continue Reading

HI Colleen, I understand your point of view. However, being a high school, we do not lend these items because after they are cataloged in the library they are sent to the departments. Therefore, they would be hard to retrieve. Thanks for your input. Yes, I agree whole heartedly! Our library lends almost everything that is requested. It would be nice to see more libraries do the same!!! On another matter, how many libraries find their requests get stuck at lenders who never respond. I see certain libraries on one of my requests and I cringe knowing the request will just be stuck there until it expire. Thank you Maurren Maureen D. Dear JerseyCat users, Please be fair and re-evaluate your ILL policy, if your library does not lend CD's or does not lend DVD's, but does ask other libraries to lend them to your library. This does not seem fair. Often, when I get a request for a CD or DVD, I look up the policy of the requesting library, to see if they reciprocate. If there is N in the column for the type of material that they are asking us for, I do not send it. Instead, I request, in the history of the JerseyCat request, for this library to please ...Continue Reading

Hello Everyone, As I told you in the previous e-mail message about the bookstraps (please answer me on that if you haven't), we have a major upgrade coming to JerseyCat the week of October 13.
