A section of state law regarding municipal and joint libraries, N.J.S.A. 40:54-15, has been revised to permit the library board of trustees to transfer funds from the municipal or joint library\x92s funds on hand to the municipality. The law took effect at the end of April. This action may only be taken after meeting certain requirements, and pending approval by the State Librarian. A few changes to the 2008 data survey have been proposed. Since we no longer need the detailed information regarding COMMUNITY sponsored programming, all of the questions relating to that information in Part VII, LIBRARY SERVICES, (Lines 7.56-7.63) should be removed from the 2008 data survey. The program is now budgeted for $2 million in FY 2009, which will most likely mean cutbacks in terms of the number of vendors, the number of databases and/or the number of customers the program can serve.
